Legrand and Samsung are collaborating in an international technological partnership with the objective of developing new products for the management of hotel rooms, which can give the customer greater facility of use and maximum comfort.
To allow the acceleration of the development of connected buildings, Legrand and Samsung have joined forces to increase interoperability between their technologies. Together they will develop new user interfaces based on the Samsung LYNK HMS (Hospitality Management Solution) and on the competence of the Legrand Group in the electrical and digital infrastructure of buildings.
This will allow the guest to manage the lighting, temperature and door opening from the Samsung television in his room. In the long term, the solution arising from the collaboration will also ensure the interface between the hotel guest and services (reception, booking taxis, audiovisual services, etc.) for a richer guest experience.
A shared vision of technological developments to make Smart Buildings. In 2015 the Legrand Group, with its Legrand and BTicino brands, launched the Eliot* programme aimed at developing connected and interoperable solutions which will bring lasting benefit to the consumer and the professional. This new technological partnership with Samsung underlines the dynamic of the development of this programme and Legrand's ambitions in the development of the Internet of Things and connected buildings. From this same view point Legrand and Samsung are historically members of the ZigBee® Alliance (ZigBee® is the international open and global wireless standard for the Internet of Things). With its LYNK HMS solution for hotels, Samsung enables efficient hotel management and ensures excellent service. The Samsung televisions, specially developed for the hotel sector, are connected to the wireless network which gives the guest total control of the room status: the contents displayed on the screen are constantly updated to maximise the comfort level, while they reduce energy consumption by 20 to 30%. As well as the customisation possibilities, this on line system informs the hotel staff about when the guests are leaving and informs reception on room availability, in real time. The check-in and check-out times are thus reduced, for greater guest satisfaction.
